Testing Values and Process Specifications Table:
| Power Steering fluid temperature: | Fluid level specified value: |
|---|---|
| Ambient temperature (approximately 20 °C (68 °F)) | Fluid level in the area -B-. |
| Hydraulic fluid operating temperature (approximately 80 °C (176 °F)) | Oil level in the area -A-. |
The hydraulic fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment.
A leak test for the hydraulic fluid reservoir is a repair procedure and should be charged separately.
Requirements:
- Do not let the engine idle.
- Turning the front wheels in straight-ahead position.
Procedure:
-- Remove the cap with the dipstick.
-- Clean the dipstick with a clean cloth.
-- Install the cap on hand-tight and remove it again.
-- Check the fluid level according to the oil dipstick scale.
-- If the fluid level does not meet the specification, take the following actions:
| Oil Level: | Action: |
|---|---|
| Over the specified range | Extract some hydraulic fluid. |
| Under the specified range | Check the hydraulic power steering for leaks. Refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS . |
