Battery With Visual Indicator

NOTE:

Applies only to the auxiliary battery in hybrid vehicles.

The auxiliary battery A1 is located in the spare wheel well near battery A.

Do not open acid batteries.

WARNING: If the "Visual Indicator" is colorless or light yellow: Do not check or charge the battery. Do not perform a jump start. There is danger of explosion! The battery must be replaced. Refer to BATTERY .
NOTE:

The "visual indicator" -arrow- provides information about the fluid levels and the charge level for the battery being checked.

As the "visual indicator" is only located in a battery cell, only the battery electrolyte level for this battery cell can be checked.

- -

-- Check that the battery and terminal clamp are tightly in position and tighten if necessary. Refer to BATTERY, CHECK THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND THE BATTERY FOR SECURE FIT .

-- Evaluate the battery electrolyte level present in the color display.

Two different displays are possible

Color display Battery level
Black or green
  • Battery electrolyte level OK
Colorless or light yellow
  • Battery electrolyte level too low.
NOTE:

Bubbles can build up under the "visual indicator" when the battery is charging and also while driving, causing the color displayed to be incorrect.

Gently and carefully tap the "visual indicator" with the end of a screwdriver to loosen any air bubbles.
