WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Lexus ES 300h. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
    • The driver seat is equipped with slide, reclining, lifter, front vertical, lumbar support adjustment and cushion length* functions.
    • The front passenger seat is equipped with slide, reclining, lifter and front vertical functions.
    • The memory call function uses the key ID code of the key to memorize and recall the appropriate driving position for each individual who possesses a master key or sub key.
    • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT
    1. for Driver
      Component Function
Front power seat switch LH Based on the switch operation, seat adjuster signals are input to the front power seat switch LH to adjust the seat accordingly.
Front seat adjuster assembly LH Slide motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch LH, and slides the seat forward and rearward.
Front vertical motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch LH, and raises and lowers the front of the seat cushion.
Lifter motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch LH, and raises and lowers the seat cushion.
Cushion length motor* Receives a signal from the front power seat switch LH, and slide the seat cushion forward and rearward.
Position sensor Built into each motor and sends position data to the front power seat switch LH so that it can detect the position at all times.
Front seatback frame sub-assembly LH Reclining motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch LH, and tilts the seatback forward and rearward.
Position sensor Built into the reclining motor and sends position data to the front power seat switch LH so that the ECU can detect the position at all times.
Lumbar support adjuster assembly LH Receives a signal from the front power seat switch assembly LH and operates the built-in motor to adjust the lumbar support.
Seat memory switch (for driver) If the seat memory SET switch is being pressed when one of the M1, M2 or M3 seat memory switches is pressed, or if one of the M1, M2 or M3 switches is pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the SET switch, the outer mirror control ECU assembly (for driver) sends the signals so that the seat position can be stored.
Then, when a seat memory switch is pressed, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly (for driver) and the seat position changes according to memory.
Front power seat switch assembly LH Operates the motor built into lumbar support adjuster assembly LH according to switch operation.
Seat variable cushion switch* Operates the cushion length motor (front seat adjuster assembly LH) according to switch operation.
      • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch
    2. for Front Passenger
      Component Function
Front power seat switch RH Based on the switch operation, seat adjuster signals are input to the front power seat switch RH to adjust the seat accordingly.
Front seat adjuster assembly RH Slide motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch RH, and slides the seat forward and rearward.
Front vertical motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch RH, and raises and lowers the front of the seat cushion.
Lifter motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch RH, and raises and lowers the seat cushion.
Position sensor Built into each motor and sends position data to the front power seat switch RH so that it can detect the position at all times.
Separate type front seatback spring assembly Reclining motor Receives a signal from the front power seat switch RH, and tilts the seatback forward and rearward.
Position sensor Built into the reclining motor and sends position data to the front power seat switch RH so that the ECU can detect the position at all times.
Lumbar support adjuster assembly RH Receives a signal from the front power seat switch assembly RH and operates the built-in motor to adjust the lumbar support.
Seat memory switch (for front passenger) If the seat memory SET switch is being pressed when one of the M1, M2 or M3 seat memory switches is pressed, or if one of the M1, M2 or M3 switches is pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the SET switch, the outer mirror control ECU assembly (for front passenger) sends the signals so that the seat position can be stored.
Then, when a seat memory switch is pressed, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly (for front passenger) and the seat position changes according to memory.
Front power seat switch assembly RH Operates the motor built into the lumbar support adjuster assembly RH according to switch operation.
Power seat switch assembly* Operates the slide motor (front seat adjuster assembly RH) or reclining motor (separate type front seatback spring assembly) according to switch operation.
      • *: w/ Power Seat Switch Assembly
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION

The front power seat functions which can be operated with the power seat motors and memorized are shown below.

Seat Function Driver Seat Front Passenger Seat
Slide Power and Memory Power and Memory
Reclining Power and Memory Power and Memory
Front Vertical Power and Memory Power and Memory
Lifter Power and Memory Power and Memory
    Lumbar Support Adjustment Power Power
    Cushion Length* Power -
    • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch

The seat memory switch sends memory switch information to the outer mirror control ECU assembly. Then the information is sent to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via CAN and then an instruction to memorize the seat position is sent to the front power seat switch via CAN. As a result, the seat position is memorized.
