1. Check The Gear Locks / Selector Lever Release Button -E681-

• The electro-mechanical parking brake is closed.

-- Start the engine and let it idle.

1. Check 1.:

-- Move the selector lever to "P".

Specified Values

• "P" must appear in the instrument cluster and in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26-, -2-.

2. Check 1.:

• Do not press the brake pedal.

-- Press the Selector Lever Release Button -E681-, -1- and try to move the gearshift lever toward the rear.

Specified Values

• It should not be possible to move the selector lever toward the rear (locked).
• "P" must remain engaged.
• The following message must appear in the instrument cluster: "Press brake pedal to select a gear".

3. Check 1.:

• Do not press the Selector Lever Release Button -E681-, -1-.

-- Press the brake pedal and try to move the selector lever toward the rear.

Specified Values

• It should not be possible to move the selector lever toward the rear (locked).
• "P" must remain engaged.

4. Check 1.:

-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.

-- Press the Selector Lever Release Button -E681-, -1-.

-- Move the selector lever into "D/S".

Specified Values

• "D" must appear in the instrument cluster.

5. Check 1.:

-- Press the brake pedal and hold it down.

• Do not press the Selector Lever Release Button -E681-, -1-.

-- Move the selector lever forward.

Specified Values

• It should not be possible to move the selector lever toward the front (locked).
• "D" must remain engaged.

-- Pull the selector Lever toward the rear, and activate driving mode "S".

Specified Values

• "S" must appear in the instrument cluster.

If the specified values are not obtained:

-- Make sure the selector lever handle is installed correctly, refer to SELECTOR LEVER HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
