Front Peripheral Camera -R243-, CALIBRATING
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Calibration ToolVAS6350
- Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6
The Front Peripheral Camera -R243- is installed in the bumper cover under the Audi rings.
-- Set-up requirements, refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .
-- Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6, Installing and Aligning, refer to Peripheral Camera Calibration Device VAS6350/6, INSTALLING AND ALIGNING .
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
Setting up the Calibration Tool
Attach the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1:
-- Check the dimension of the holes.
-- Install the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1.
-- To do so, secure three Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1in the hole circle to each wheel pick-up.
-- Attach paddles to both Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1 and secure them with clamping screw.
-- Place the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1 on the wheel bolt on the rear wheels.
The Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1 are positioned by the "O-rings" in the adapters and held in place.
Mount the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1 on the wheel so that if the wheel has "anti-theft" wheel bolts, they do not contact the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1.
-- Adjust paddle with aid of clamping screws so that they move freely just above the floor. Make sure the paddles move easily.
Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 alignment:
-- Position the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 between 400 mm and 600 mm in front of the vehicle in the center.
-- Move the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 in a horizontal position.
-- To do so, twist plastic feet under the plates under the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 so that air bubble in level is located exactly in the center of the indicator -arrow-.
Make sure light does not reflect off the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6.
Reflections affect the camera and may make it impossible to perform the calibration.
-- Attach the Calibration Tool - Linear LaserVAS6350/3 -4- to the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 at the location provided.
-- Turn on the Calibration Tool - Linear Laser VAS6350/3 -4- and line up the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 so that the laser beam points at the front of the vehicle, in the center just above the Audi rings.
-- Make sure the Audi rings are exactly in the center. Adjust the laser beam as needed.
Distance measurement:
-- Turn on the Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2.
-- Hold the Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2 -2- flush in the bracket on one side of the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6. The Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2 -2- must sit securely on the bracket.
-- Press the measuring button briefly.
The laser turns on.
-- Make sure that laser beam from Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2 -2- hits lower, enlarged part of paddle -1-.
If this is not the case, then the paddle must be corrected accordingly via the screws on the Calibration Tool - Wheel Center MountingsVAS6350/1.
-- With one hand, firmly hold the Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2 in the bracket on the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 while the laser beam is visible on the paddle.
-- Press the measuring button briefly for the distance measurement.
-- Repeat measuring procedure in the same manner for the other rear wheel on the other side of the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6.
The distance value must be the same on both sides.
If values are not identical:
-- Keep adjusting the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 until the values on both side are identical.
When aligning the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 make sure the Calibration Tool - Linear LaserVAS6350/3 from thePeripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 until it strikes the center of the Audi rings and the indicator of the level remains centered. If necessary, make further corrections.
-- Write down the measured distance dimension.
Dimension measurement -h- :
-- Measure the height of the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 -2-, dimension -h-, from the surface of the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 -2- (not of the aluminum frame) to the floor. Measure the hole in the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6 -2-.
Make sure the Calibration Tool - Calibration Tool - Spacing LaserVAS6350/2 -1- is adjusted correctly.
Dimension -h- and the distance dimension must now be entered into the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "millimeters".
Performing calibration
The Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is attached.
-- Select Guided Fault Finding .
-- Select "vehicle selection" from the menu for the corresponding vehicle data.
-- Using the GO TO button, select the following menu points:
- Select Function/Component Selection
- Body
- Electrical Equipment
- 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems
- 6C - Peripheral Camera Control Module/J928
- 6C - Peripheral Camera Control Module, functions
- 6C - Calibration, (Repair Group 91)
The Vehicle Diagnostic Tester continues with the calibrating procedure from here on.
Make sure light does not reflect off the Peripheral Camera Calibration DeviceVAS6350/6.
Reflections affect the camera and may make it impossible to perform the calibration.
