Ignition Coils, Removing And Installing: Notes
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Puller - Ignition Coil T40039
Remove the ignition coils from cylinder bank 1:
-- Only remove the lower section of the air filter for the cylinder 1 ignition coil LOWER SECTION OF AIR FILTER, REMOVING .
-- For cylinder 2 and 3 ignition coils, remove the air guide hose (open the hose clamp -3- and the clips -arrows-).
-- Remove the bolts from the ignition coil wiring harness.
-- Release electrical connectors and remove connectors simultaneously from ignition coils.
-- Pull ignition coils out of spark plug shaft using Puller - Ignition Coil T40039.
Remove the ignition coils from cylinder bank 2:
-- Remove the coolant reservoir -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector to the Engine Coolant Level Warning Switch -F66- on the bottom of the coolant reservoir and lay the reservoir aside with the coolant hoses -1 and 2- and -3- attached.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Pull the ignition coil approximately 30 mm out of spark plug shaft using Puller - Ignition Coil T40039.
-- Release electrical connectors and remove connectors simultaneously from ignition coils.
Installing
-- Insert all ignition coils loosely into the spark plug shaft.
-- Align the ignition coils to the connectors and then connect all of the connectors simultaneously onto the ignition coils.
-- Press the ignition coils uniformly onto the spark plugs by hand (do not use an impact tool under any circumstances).
Install in reverse order of removal.
