Component overview
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Audi S4, 2004 Audi A4, 2003 Audi A4, and 2002 Audi A4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
HD = High pressure side
ND = Low pressure side
The following list pertains to Fig 1.
- A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -N280- 1)
- Checking activation and function, see ACTIVATION FOR A/C COMPRESSOR REGULATOR VALVE -N280- )
- Compressor 1)
- Compressor from bracket, removing and installing, see COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING FROM BRACKET )
- When installing refrigerant lines/hoses and bracket, make sure there is a sufficient gap between belt, bracket and belt pulley
- The compressor construction differs depending on the engine
- Different compressor types are installed depending on country variants (e.g. Denso, model designation 7SEU series USA)
- Belt pulley drive unit - compressor to engine
- Replacing belt pulley, see BELT PULLEY/DRIVE UNIT OF COMPRESSOR, REPLACING
- Ribbed belt, removing and installing:
See RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for the 1.8L engine, or RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING for the 3.0L engine.
- Drive unit-compressor, checking, replacing, see COMPRESSOR DRIVE UNIT, CHECKING, REPLACING
NOTE:- A rubber element is installed between the belt pulley drive unit and compressor drive shaft to protect the drive gear in the event that the compressor is seized or does not move freely.
- The rubber element disables the power transfer to the compressor, if the compressor produces friction.
- A rubber element is installed between the engine and compressor to protect the drive gear if the compressor is seized or does not move freely.
- Vibrations which may occur during compressor operation can be eliminated via the rubber element (dampening function during torque tightening).
- Oil drain plug
- High pressure relief valve
- Circuit with valve
- High Pressure Sensor of A/C system -G65- 1)
- Removing and installing, see HIGH PRESSURE SENSOR -G65-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Checking signal, see TEST STEPS 5 TO 9
- Condenser
- Closing cap
- With seal
- Always install
- Service connection
- High pressure side
- For measuring, discharging and charging
