Windshield Wiper Motor and Control Module, Removing and Installing

Removing

Remove rubber seal - 1 - on plenum chamber covers.
Remove plenum chamber covers - 2 - and - 3 -.
Remove dust and pollen filter → 87 - AIR CONDITIONING .

NOTE:

Cover air duct at air conditioner housing with clean cloth to stop anything falling in.

Remove wiper arms → Windshield Wiper Arms, Removing and Installing .

Remove the bolts at the left and right - arrows - for the cowl panel grille - 1 -.

CAUTION: The cowl panel trim could be damaged.

Coat the transition between the windshield and cowl panel trim with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim - 1 - vertically out of the retainer on the windshield beginning at the edge of the window.

Carefully remove the cowl grille from the locking mechanism on the windshield.

Remove dome brace - arrow -.

Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
Detach holder - 3 - for dome brace.

Vehicles with coolant expansion tank in plenum chamber:

Remove rear section of left front wheel housing liner → 66 - EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
Clamp off coolant hose - 2 - with a hose clamp 3094.
Disconnect electrical connection - 1 - at low coolant level indicator.
Place Shop Crane Drip Tray VAS 6208 beneath coolant expansion tank and disconnect coolant hose.

Remove retaining bolt - 2 - on coolant expansion tank.
Disengage retaining clips - arrows - and remove coolant expansion tank - 1 - from mount.

Remove nuts - arrows -.
Remove coolant expansion tank mount - 1 - from plenum chamber.

All Vehicles

Remove bolts - arrows - and remove entire wiper frame.
Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Install wiper motor with wiper frame in vehicle.
Install the dome brace → 40 - FRONT SUSPENSION .

Vehicles with coolant expansion tank in plenum chamber:

Install mount and coolant expansion tank.
Install rear section of left front wheel housing liner → 66 - EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT .
Fill coolant →
- 19 - ENGINE - COOLING SYSTEM for 4.2 LITER V8 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BVJ
- 19 - ENGINE - COOLING SYSTEM for 4.2 LITER V8 5V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BFM
- 19 - ENGINE - COOLING SYSTEM for 5.2 LITER 10-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSM
- 19 - COOLING SYSTEM for 6.0 LITER 12-CYL. 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BSB
.

Adjust wiper arms → Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting .
