Kick-down function, adapting after replacing gas pedal module or engine control module (ECM)

NOTE:
  • If the throttle position sensor or engine control module are replaced in vehicles with automatic transmission, the kick-down function must be adapted.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Display on VAS 5051 :

Scan tool display: "Operate kick-down".

Scan tool display: "Kick-down ADP running". After kick-down adaptation is completed, the display shows "Kick-down ADP OK".

NOTE:
  • If "Kick-down ERROR" is displayed: Check DTC Memory.
  • "ERROR" could be displayed e.g. if the accelerator pedal is not immediately depressed after prompting the tester or if the accelerator pedal is released during adaptation, even though adaptation had not been completed. Exit the function "04 - Basic setting" by pressing ← button and perform adaptation again.
