  11. Climatronic Control Module -J255- / A/C Control Module -J301-

Climatronic Control Module (on vehicles with automatically regulated A/C system)

    • Different versions (with a button for automatic air recirculation or a OFF  button, without or with seat heater control, with and without radio navigation system or radio with large control panel), allocation
    • Removing and installing, refer to CLIMATRONIC CONTROL MODULE .
    • Instrument Panel Interior Temperature Sensor -G56- is integrated in the Climatronic control module.
    • Interior Temperature Sensor Fan -V42- is installed in the Climatronic control module, however it cannot be replaced individually, refer to INTERIOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAN .
    • Also observe additional notes for Climatronic control module, refer to CLIMATRONIC CONTROL MODULE .
    • Guided fault finding of the Climatronic control module is to be performed as described using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
    • Buttons and display fields are illuminated by Light Emitting Diodes (LED), cannot be replaced.
      NOTE:
      • Different versions on vehicles with and without Fresh Air Intake Duct Temperature Sensor -G89-
      • From model year 2006, the fresh air intake duct temperature sensor has been gradually discontinued, on vehicles without this temperature sensor, only the Climatronic control module with part no. as of index M is or may be installed.
      • On vehicles without fresh air intake duct temperature sensor, a Climatronic control module with part no. up to index L installed enters a DTC into the DTC memory.
      • To the end of model year 2007, the Air Flow Door Motor -V71- is being discontinued as a running change, on vehicles without the air flow door motor the air flow door (fresh air door) is actuated via a curved washer and lever of the Recirculation Door Motor -V113-, refer to RECIRCULATION DOOR MOTOR . Therefore note the correct allocation of the Climatronic control module, if the allocation or the adaptation is not OK this is detected during basic setting and stored as a malfunction, refer to CLIMATRONIC CONTROL MODULE .
      • From MY 2009, as a running change, the Climatronic control module is being installed, whereby the specified temperature is set to a lower characteristic line. Refer to Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • From MY 2010, this vehicle has a Start/Stop System for specific engines as optional equipment. On vehicles with Start/Stop system, the Climatronic control module prevents the Stop function. If, for example, defrost is selected, the Stop Function is not possible or will be interrupted and the engine will start. The same applies in the case of heating and cooling. The difference between the selected and actual temperature is greater than a specified value. Check using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • If the vehicle has the Start/Stop System, there is no additional coolant pump. An electric coolant pump may be present depending on the vehicle engine, which is controlled by an ECM. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION and refer to COOLANT PUMP AND COOLANT THERMOSTAT ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW and Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • On vehicles with the Start/Stop System, only the Climatronic control module, part number 8P0 820 047 starting with index BK is or will be installed. Refer to the CLIMATRONIC CONTROL MODULE .

A/C Control Module -J301- (vehicles with manually regulated A/C system)

      NOTE:
      • Beginning with MY 2009, as a running change, seat heating control modules are being installed, whereby the specified temperature for the seat heating is controlled by a lower characteristic line. Refer to Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • From MY 2010, this vehicle has a Start/Stop System for specific engines as optional equipment. If the vehicles has a manual climate control system, then, depending on the setting on the A/C control module (for example, the heater is on) the Stop function will prevent the engine from being started again as soon as there is a request for heating. In cooling mode, the Stop function is not limited by the A/C control module. Check using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • If the vehicle has the Start/Stop System, there is no additional coolant pump. An electric coolant pump may be present depending on the vehicle engine, which is controlled by an engine control module. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION and refer to COOLANT PUMP AND COOLANT THERMOSTAT ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW and Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".
      • If the vehicle has a Start/Stop System and a manual climate control system, then install A/C control module, part number 8P0 820 047, starting with index D.
      • From MY 2010, this vehicle has a Start/Stop System for specific engines as optional equipment. On vehicles with the Start/Stop System, seat heating is switched off whenever the Stop function is active (by the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- to protect the battery).
