Code control module (function 07) (engine code AYS): Notes
NOTE:
- If a coding is indicated that does not correspond to the vehicle, or if control module has been replaced, control module must be coded.
- Coding is checked using the VAG 1551 scan tool.
- During control module identification, a 5-digit code must always be indicated.
- Incorrect coding can lead to increased exhaust emissions and increased strain of the automatic transmission due to hard shift jolt.
- Connect VAS5051 tester or VAG1551 scan tool and select the control module for engine electronics via "address word" 01. See VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC, TESTING AND INFORMATION SYSTEM VAS5051 OR VAG1551, CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS
. Ignition must be switched ON for this.
Indicated on display:
- Press 0 and 7 for the function "Code Control Module", and then press Q to exit from input mode.
Indicated on display:
- Enter appropriate code number for this vehicle, and press Q to exit from input mode.
Compose the code number as follows (example):
ECM CODE NUMBER EXAMPLE: ENGINE CODE AYSTLEV(exhaust norm) 06 All wheel drive with ESP 7 Manual transmission 1 Audi A8 and S8 3 Code number 06 7 1 3
VAG1551 scan tool display indicates control module coding. For example, see Fig 3 .
- Press --> button.
Indicated on display:
- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06. Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Switch ignition off and on again.NOTE: The next time ignition is switched ON, entered coding will be activated.
