Test requirements for torque converter slip numbers:
- "Torque converter clutch closed": Shifting must be completed (wait at least 1 second), the torque converter clutch must be closed and the accelerator pedal value must be steady.
- "Torque converter clutch adaptation": The values shown apply to the "adapted condition" of the torque convertor clutch. Under un-favorable conditions (for instance acceleration on a hill) this condition is reached only after 20 seconds after completed shifting. During this adaptation phase slip values of up to 350 RPM can be reached.
- Torque converter slip numbers that are too high can also indicate a slipping clutch or not activated shift elements.
