Fuel Level Sensor

  1. Read measured value block display group 002. See FUNCTION MODE 08: READING MEASURED VALUE BLOCK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If fuel level is displayed on scan tool but not on fuel gauge, replace instrument cluster. If fuel level is not displayed on scan tool, go to next step.
  2. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between instrument cluster Blue, 32-pin harness connector terminals No 5 (Violet/Black wire) and No. 7 (Brown wire).
  3. For resistance values, see FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, check for open, poor connection or short in fuel level sensor circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If circuit is okay, replace fuel level sensor.
