EGR Temperature (EGRT) Sensor

  1. Disconnect EGRT sensor connector. Refer to the ELECTRICAL COMPONENT LOCATIONS  table at beginning of article. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between EGRT sensor connector terminals. If 4.5-5.0 volts is not present, repair faulty wiring or replace ECM as necessary.
  2. If 4.5-5.0 volts is present, turn ignition off. Remove EGRT sensor. Set ohmmeter to 200,000-ohm scale. Place EGRT sensor in boiling water. Measure resistance across EGRT sensor terminals. If resistance changes, EGRT sensor is okay. If resistance does not change, replace EGRT sensor.
