Servicing - M/T: Adjustments

Place gearshift lever in Neutral. Remove shift knob, boot retaining screw and boot. Loosen shift rod retaining bolt on bottom of shift lever. See Fig 1 . Position gearshift lever as close to Neutral as possible.
Align shift lever so both lugs (left and right sides) on ball stop are same distance from ball housing. See Fig 2 . Ensure lever does not move and tighten bolt. Check shifter for smooth travel into all gear positions.
Ensure reverse safety catch is effective. If reverse safety catch does not catch, loosen ball housing screws and turn ball housing slightly. Check reverse safety catch operation. Install boot and shift knob.
