Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

A separate unit, CMP sensor (formally known as a Hall Effect sensor) is located at the end of left cylinder head camshaft. Signals from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the CMP sensor are used to identify ignition TDC of No. 3 cylinder. When starting engine, the first ignition and injection points are triggered by the MFI ECM after receiving both signals.
