Idle Switch

  1. Connect voltmeter between Test Adapter (VW-1501) connector No. 1 and ground. See Figure . Voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or short circuit. Turn ignition off.
  2. Place .20" (.5 mm) feeler gauge between throttle valve stop and adjustment screw. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between test adapter connector No. 1 and ground. Resistance should change from zero ohms (with throttle closed) to infinity as throttle gap increases beyond .020" (.50 mm).
  3. If resistance is not as specified, adjust idle gap to .006-.020"(.15-.50 mm). See Fig 1 . If resistance is as specified, check full throttle switch.
