Full Throttle Switch

  1. Connect voltmeter between terminal No. 3 of throttle switch and ground. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. Turn ignition off. Disconnect full throttle switch connector. Connect ohmmeter across full throttle switch terminal No. 3 and ground.
  2. Fasten pointer for Protractor (3084) to adjuster of accelerator cable. See Fig 1 . Screw protractor onto throttle shaft and unscrew throttle shaft nut (if necessary). Push throttle lever to full open (at stop limit). Zero pointer plus disc.

  3. Close throttle to 30 degrees, and then slowly move toward full throttle position until full throttle switch engages (zero ohms indicated). Protractor should show 6-14 degrees before contacting full throttle limit stop.
  4. If protractor reading is not as specified, adjust or replace full throttle switch. If protractor reading is as specified, remove FICU harness connector. Turn ignition off.
NOTE: ICU terminal numbers are imprinted on connector.
  5. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between throttle switch terminal No. 1 and ICU terminal No. 7 and between throttle switch terminal No. 3 and ICU terminal No. 9. See Figure . Readings should be less than .2 ohm.
  6. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between throttle switch terminal No. 1 and FICU terminal No. 28 and between throttle switch terminal No. 3 and FICU terminal No. 31. See Figure and Figure . Readings should be less than .2 ohm. If readings are not as specified, repair open or short circuit.
