Temperature Safety Switch

  1. Wastegate frequency valve must be okay before testing temperature safety switch. Disconnect harness connector from wastegate frequency valve. Using a LED Test Light (US 1115 ), connect Red lead to Blue/Black wire and Black lead to Green/Yellow wire.
  2. Start and idle engine. Unplug throttle switch. Using a jumper wire, briefly short across throttle switch terminals No. 2 and 3. See Figure . LED test light must be on for about 2 seconds. Remove jumper wire from throttle switch. If LED test light did not come on, replace temperature safety switch.
  3. If LED test light came on, disconnect plug from temperature safety switch. Using a jumper wire, connect terminal R to ground. See Fig 1 . Using a jumper wire, briefly short across throttle switch terminals No. 2 and 3. See Figure . LED test light must NOT be on or flash.
  4. If not as specified, check circuits between temperature safety switch and ECU.
