Coil Resistance Check

Using ohmmeter, check ignition coil primary and secondary resistance. Disconnect coil primary and secondary ignition leads. Connect ohmmeter leads across primary terminals No. 1 and 15 at coil. See Figure . Resistance value should be .5-1.5 ohms. Connect ohmmeter leads between positive terminal (No. 1) and coil high voltage tower. See Fig 1 . Secondary resistance value should be 5000-9000 ohms. If resistance values are not to specification, replace ignition coil.
