4000 & Coupe

  1. On 4-cylinder models, adjustments are done on only one side. Loosen clamp and lock nut on adjustable tie rod. Turn tie rod and set to specifications. On 5-cylinder models, steering gear centering tool (3075) must be used. Center steering gear, attach tool by removing bolt from spacer on chain of tool and inserting it through hole (marked with L) on tool and tighten to steering gear. See Fig 1 . Loosen clamps and jam nuts on both tie rods and set to specifications.

  2. Tighten locking components. If necessary, remove steering wheel and reposition so wheel spokes are horizontal when front wheels point straight-ahead.
NOTE: Remove tool from 5-cylinder models by reversing installation procedures.
