Wide Open Throttle (Wot) Switch Test
- Disconnect wiring at WOT switch. Using DVOM hooked to switch terminals, test switch while operating it manually. When throttle is closed, resistance should be infinite and when throttle is in WOT position, resistance reading should be low. Repeat test several times. Replace switch if it is bad.
- Reconnect wiring to CTS. Turn ignition on. Check WOT switch voltage at diagnostic connector between terminals D2-6 and D2-7/ground. When switch is in WOT position, voltage reading should be zero. Reading should be greater than 2 volts when switch is in any other position. If voltage is always zero, test for short circuit to ground in harness or switch.
- Check for open circuit between terminal No. 8 of ECU connector and switch connector. Repair or replace wiring harness as necessary. If voltage is always greater than 2 volts, check for open circuit in wire or connector between switch and ground. Repair wiring harness as necessary.
