4 Cylinder Models

  1. Mark hinges for reinstallation and remove hood. Drain cooling system and remove air cleaner. Remove battery negative cable and TAC flexible hose.
  2. Disconnect all lines, wires, hoses and linkage from engine.
  3. Raise car and support with safety stands. Remove starter motor. Remove exhaust pipe supporting bracket and disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
  4. Remove bellhousing shield. Remove torque converter screws, if equipped with automatic transmission. Remove all bellhousing screws except top center.
  5. Lower car. Remove radiator and shroud assembly. Disconnect power steering hoses, if equipped. Remove transmission filler tube support screws, if equipped with automatic transmission.
  6. Attach suitable lifting device to engine and remove engine support cushion nuts on both sides. Support transmission and remove center screw from bellhousing. Remove engine.
