Removal And Installation
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Press in the retainers (1a) to remove the Battery Distribution Unit (BDU) cover (1b).
- Remove the nuts (1a) and reposition the positive battery cable (1b).
- Position aside the pyrotechnic fuse (2a).
- Remove the screws (3a).
- Remove the bracket (3b).
- Loosen the battery positive terminal by turning the lever (4a) until in the proper position (4b).
- Lift the BDU (5a) and position aside.
- Remove the screw (1a) to remove the battery hold down strap (1b).
- Loosen bolt (2a) and retainer that hold the battery to the tray.
- Lift the battery (1c) to disengage it from the retaining bracket (3a).
- Remove the battery from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Check the integrity of the battery prior to installation.
- Position the battery (1a) to the tray and engage the front retaining bracket (1b).
- Position and tighten the battery bolt (2a) with hold down retainer.
- Position the battery hold down strap (3a).
- Secure the strap using the screw (3b). Tighten the screw to the proper specifications. Refer to: TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the BDU (1a) on the battery.
- Tighten the battery positive terminal by rotating the lever (2a) until in the proper position (2b).
- Position the bracket (3a) and tighten the screws (3b).
- Position the pyrotechnic fuse (4a).
- Position the positive battery cable (5a), then install and tighten the nuts (5b) to the proper specifications. Refer to: TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the IBS. Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
