Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

If replacing the steering box with integrated power steering control module, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the flash programming procedure (if available).

NOTE:

If replacing the steering box with integrated power steering control module, connect the diagnosis equipment to the car's diagnostic socket, select "Functions to be used only with FCA Technical supervision" then select the "Reset steering angle sensor offset routine" procedure, carefully following the instructions provided by the diagnosis equipment.

Position the steering gear (1b) to the crossmember.
Install the steering gear to crossmember bolt (1a), do not tighten at this time.

Install the steering gear to crossmember bolt (1), do not tighten at this time.
Tighten the two steering gear to crossmember bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

Never disconnect the wire harness connectors (a) and (b).

Connect the two steering gear wire harness connectors (1a).

Secure the retaining clip (1a).

Install and tighten the steering gear wire harness bracket bolt (1).

Install and tighten the steering gear wire harness bracket bolts (1).
Install the front suspension crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
