Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

Removal and installation process is the same for both sides of the vehicle.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. If equipped, disconnect the axle sensor from the lower control arm. Refer to SENSOR, AXLE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the front strut lower clevis bolt (1a).

  5. Remove the lower control arm to knuckle bolt (1).

  6. Using special tool (special tool #2032500020, Remover, Front Suspension Ball Joint) (1a) remove and separate the lower control arm (1b) from the knuckle (1c).

  7. Inspect and make sure that the bushing (1) is in its original position.
  8. Check the integrity of the protective boot (2).

  9. Remove the two lower control arm to front cradle bolts (1a)
  10. Remove the lower control arm (1b).
