Removal And Installation: 2.9L

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove air inlet connector to the turbo charger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

4. Disconnect the quick connectors (1a, 1b), open the clamp (1c) and remove the multi-way coolant pump inlet pipe.
5. Remove the steering gear. The steering gear must be removed together with the front suspension crossmember; therefore. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or CROSSMEMBER, REAR SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or CROSSMEMBER, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or CROSSMEMBER, UNDERBODY TUNNEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

6. Remove the generator (1b) lower mounting bolt (1a) that secures the generator to the crankcase.

7. Remove the generator upper mounting bolts (1).

8. Reposition the generator connector guard (1a) to gain access to the nut (1b).
9. Remove the nut (1b).
10. Remove the eyelet and cable from the generator.
11. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2) from the generator.

12. Remove the generator (1).

13. Check the generator guide bushing.

INSTALLATION 

1. Inspect the generator integrity.

2. Position the generator and tighten the upper mounting bolts to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

3. Install the lower generator mounting bolt. Torque the bolt to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
5. Connect and secure the B+ wiring harness to the generator.

6. Install the multi-way coolant pump inlet pipe (1a), quick connectors (1b), and close the clamp (1c).
7. Install the steering gear. The steering gear must be installed together with the front suspension crossmember; therefore. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
8. Install the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
