Description And Operation
The power window system is managed by the Body Control Module (BCM) and by the LIN data bus electronics integrated in the power window motors.
The vehicle operator can actuate the power windows using the power window switches on the door panels. All of the power windows on the vehicle (front and rear) can be operated using the master switch on the driver side door panel. The front and rear windows can be operated from their respective switches. The movement of the front and rear windows is assisted by the anti-pinch function
The power window motors manage the anti-crush safety function, it acquires information about the possible presence of an obstacle during window closure (rising); the anti-crush function is performed by a Hall effect sensor that senses overloads on the window motor; the intervention threshold is set when the force of the obstacle encountered along the window travel (e.g. a finger, a hand) exceeds 7/8 kg. The electronic unit automatically reverses the actuator which retracts the window by around 20 mm as required by regulations in force.

The passenger side power window switch is defined as a module because of the LIN type electronics integrated into the switch.
The window operating buttons (front and rear) can be used to request the BCM and the electronic unit integrated in the electric window system to operate the windows as follows:
- Manual: pull up or push down the button (stopping at the first click)
- Automatic: pull up or push down the button (to the second click)
REAR POWER WINDOW SWITCH
Each rear door will come equipped with a power window switch.
The rear lockout is operated by the use of a dedicated lockout button in the driver window switch. The state of the lockout is indicated by a LED next to the switch. Connect F pin 55 supplies the power to illuminate the LEDs.
The front and rear power window regulator motors are secured to the carrier plate using four fasteners.
The front and rear power window regulator motors incorporate an electronic unit which communicates data with the BCM over the LIN data bus network. The integrated electronic unit provides a supply to the power window regulator motors in both of the "up" and "down" modes.

All power window switches are connected to the BCM. When a switch is operated, the BCM receives the signal and actuates the power window regulator motor over the LIN data bus to operate the desired power window operation.
The power window motor (1) manages the anti-crush safety function, it acquires information about the possible presence of an obstacle during window closure (rising); the anti-crush function is performed by a Hall effect sensor that senses overloads on the window motor; the intervention threshold is set when the force of the obstacle encountered along the window travel (e.g. a finger, a hand) exceeds 7/8 kg. The electronic unit automatically reverses the actuator which retracts the window by around 20 mm as required by regulations in force.
The power window function operates only with the ignition ON, with the following exception: with key at STOP, the windows can be operated for 3 minutes; when this time period elapses, the system no longer acquires new commands. If one of the doors is opened during the timed period, new commands are no longer acquired, but any commands received before the opening of the door are brought to a conclusion. If one of the doors is already open with the key at STOP, any commands received before the opening of the door are brought to a conclusion.
The power for the window motors is received from the BCM by a circuit protected fuse, and the signals for the window movement are sent by a LIN data bus from the BCM to the window motors.
In the following "key status" conditions:
- OFF
- ON
- ENGINE RUNNING
- CRANK
The power window regulator motors actuate only if the LIN data bus through which it communicates with the BCM is in normal operating conditions. The power window regulator motors cannot move the window if the LIN data bus is in sleep mode or no longer in normal operating conditions.
The LIN data bus enters sleep mode three minutes after "key status" is set to OFF position. During the three minutes after key-off, the LIN line is active and the window can be moved (Comfort Enable function). If the driver or passenger door is opened in the course of the three minutes, the Comfort Enable function is deactivated.
The windows can only be operated the battery voltage range of 10V (±0.6V) - 16V (±0.6V).
