2.9L - Left

NOTE:

If the knock sensor needs to be replaced, connect the scan tool, navigate to "PCM" in the "Miscellaneous functions" menu and start the "Reset adaptive parameters" routine.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left cylinder head fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Disconnect the left cylinder head knock sensor electric connector (1) and then release the sensor from the retaining bracket.

  4. Remove the knock sensor retaining screw (1a) to remove the sensor (1b) from the left cylinder head.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Inspect the knock sensor and wiring harness connector integrity.

  2. Position the left cylinder head knock sensor (1a) to its housing and tighten the retaining screw (1b) to the proper specification.. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Connect the electric connector to the left cylinder head knock sensor and engage the sensor to the retaining bracket.
  4. Install the left cylinder head fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
