Removal And Installation: 2.9L
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove air inlet connector to the turbo charger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Remove the bolts (1a) from the steering gear (1b) and allow it to rest on the subframe.
- Remove the generator lower mounting bolt (1) that secures the generator to the crankcase.
- Remove the generator upper mounting bolts (1).
- Reposition the generator connector guard (1a) to gain access to the nut (1b).
- Remove the nut (1b).
- Remove the eyelet and cable from the generator.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2) from the generator.
- Remove the generator (1).
- Check the generator guide bushing.
INSTALLATION
- Inspect the generator integrity.
- Position the generator and tighten the upper mounting bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the lower generator mounting bolt. Torque the bolt to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
- Connect and secure the B+ wiring harness to the generator.
- Install the steering gear and tighten the bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the air inlet connector to the turbo charger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable and perform the Powertrain Verification Test. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
