Removal And Installation: 2.9L

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove air inlet connector to the turbo charger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

4. Remove the bolts (1a) from the steering gear (1b) and allow it to rest on the subframe.

5. Remove the generator lower mounting bolt (1) that secures the generator to the crankcase.

6. Remove the generator upper mounting bolts (1).

7. Reposition the generator connector guard (1a) to gain access to the nut (1b).
8. Remove the nut (1b).
9. Remove the eyelet and cable from the generator.
10. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2) from the generator.

11. Remove the generator (1).

12. Check the generator guide bushing.

INSTALLATION 

1. Inspect the generator integrity.

2. Position the generator and tighten the upper mounting bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

3. Install the lower generator mounting bolt. Torque the bolt to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
5. Connect and secure the B+ wiring harness to the generator.

6. Install the steering gear and tighten the bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
7. Install the air inlet connector to the turbo charger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
8. Install the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
9. Connect the negative battery cable and perform the Powertrain Verification Test. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
