DTC P0035:  Turbocharger Bypass Control Solenoid Valve Circuit High Voltage

General Description

GHH529142Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve is activated by the powertrain control module (PCM) to control the turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve timing to improve boost response during acceleration immediately after deceleration and boost pressure decrease during deceleration. The turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve is normally closed (negative pressure side). If the return signal is OPEN for a specified duration when the PCM outputs a CLOSE signal to the turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 1 second or more
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL off

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage [Battery] 10 V -
State of the engine Running

[ ]: HDS Parameter

Malfunction Threshold

The return signal is OPEN for at least 1 second when the PCM outputs a CLOSE signal to the turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve.

Possible Cause

NOTE:

The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

  • Turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve ABV line open
  • Turbocharger bypass control solenoid valve failure
  • PCM internal circuit failure

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Start the engine, and let it idle for at least 1 second.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
