DTC P00FE: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Line Blockage
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) detects a blockage in the vent line by two phases:
- Phase 1
The PCM detects a blockage in the vent line by estimating the volume of space in the evaporative emission (EVAP) system from the pressure behavior when the EVAP canister vent shut valve is closed and decompressed by purging. If the volume of space is large, the PCM defines as normal. If the volume of space is small, the detection moves to phase 2.
- Phase 2
If abnormality is found in phase 1, the PCM stops purging and seals the space of the EVAP system. Phase 2 is performed after the vehicle has stopped for a period of time, allowing the fuel in the tank to stabilize. If the gradient of the pressure change is small, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
- Phase 1
The calculated volume of space in the EVAP system is 5.6 L (1.47 US gal) or less.
- Phase 2
The pressure deviation is 0.53329 kPa/s (4.0 mmHg/s, 0.157481 inHg/s).
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- EVAP vent line blockage
- Vent shut float blockage
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Start the engine. Hold the engine speed [Engine Speed] at 3, 000 rpm without load (CVT in P or N, M/T in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and leave the vehicle for at least 6 hours.
- Start the engine. Hold the engine speed [Engine Speed] at 3, 000 rpm without load (CVT in P or N, M/T in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
- Let it idle for at least 5 minutes 45 seconds.
- Drive the vehicle at 25 mph (40 km/h) or more under light load only.
- Stop the vehicle and leave the engine running for at least 0.2 seconds.
- When you have difficulty duplicating the DTC because of road conditions and traffic situations, repeat the driving pattern several times.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
