A/T Road Test: Test

How to use this service information .

NOTICE:

When working with a vehicle equipped with the electronic air suspension, be sure to set it to the leveling off mode to prevent unexpected operation. Refer to the Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions - Refer to: Electronic Air Suspension System Connector Fitting Precautions or Electronic Air Suspension System Service Precautions for the procedure.

NOTE:

The following road test should be done in a safe, isolated road away from traffic while obeying all local traffic laws.

  1. Vehicle - Road Test

    Preconditions

    • Engine Warmed Up
      NOTE:

Warm up the engine by raising the engine speed around 3, 000 RPM until the cooling fan(s) comes on.

    • HDS Connected

    Procedure/Specifications

    1. Park the vehicle on level ground.

    2. Apply the parking brake, and block all four wheels.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Shift the transmission to D position/mode while pressing the brake pedal. Press the accelerator pedal, and release it. The engine should not stall.

    5. Repeat step 4 in S and R positions/modes.

    6. Prepare the HDS to take a Snapshot (refer to the HDS user's guide for more details if needed).

Select the following menu buttons on the HDS screen in sequence.

    • AT (System Selection Menu)
    • Snapshot

-2. Set the Trigger Type to Parameter.

-3. Adjust the Parameter setting of the Accelerator Pedal Position to 9 %.

-4. Set the Record Time to 60 seconds.

-5. Set the Trigger Point to (Negative)-30 seconds.

    7. Find a suitable level road.

    8. When you are ready to do the test, press OK on the HDS.

    9. Accelerate quickly until the Accelerator Pedal Position reads 10 %. Maintain a steady throttle until the vehicle reaches a reasonable speed, then slow down the vehicle and come to a stop.

    10. Save the snapshot if the entire event was recorded or increase the recording time setting as necessary, and perform step 9 again.

    11. Adjust the Parameter setting of the Accelerator Pedal Position to 39 %.

    12. Test-drive the vehicle again. Accelerate quickly until the Accelerator Pedal Position reads 40 %. Maintain a steady throttle until the vehicle reaches a reasonable speed, then slow down the vehicle and come to a stop.

    13. Save the snapshot if the entire event was recorded or increase the recording time setting as necessary, and perform step 12 again.

    14. Accelerate quickly until the accelerator pedal is to the floor. Maintain a steady pedal until the vehicle reaches a reasonable speed, then slow down to a stop, and save the snapshot.

    15. Review each snapshot individually, and compare the Gear Shifting, the Accelerator Pedal Position, and the Vehicle Speed to the following table.

    16. Drive the vehicle in 10th gear, then decelerate and downshift to 2nd gear. The vehicle should immediately begin to slow down from the engine braking, then gently apply the brake to slow down to a stop.

    17. Shift the transmission to R position/mode, accelerate from a stop to full throttle momentarily, and check for abnormal noise and clutch slippage.

    18. Park the vehicle on an upward slope (about 16 degrees), apply the parking brake, then shift the transmission to P position/mode. Release the parking brake; the vehicle should not move.

NOTICE:  Always use the parking brake to hold the vehicle when stopped on an incline in gear. Depending on the grade of the incline, the vehicle could roll if the parking brake is released.
