  3. Fuel Leak - Check (Low Pressure Side)

    Procedure/Specifications

    • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the low pressure fuel line will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

      NOTICE:

If the fuel line is leaking, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode immediately.

    Specification
    No fuel leaks

    Result

    • If it is abnormal, repair or replace parts as needed.
  4. Fuel Leak - Check (High Pressure Side)

    Procedure/Specifications

    1. Move the throttle body - Refer to: Intake Manifold Area (3.0L Engine) or Intake Manifold Area (3.5L Engine) .

    NOTICE:

Do not disconnect the water bypass hoses, and do not bend them excessively.

    2. Remove the intake manifold, the intake manifold base, and the fuel rail cover - Refer to: Intake Manifold Area (3.0L Engine) or Intake Manifold Area (3.5L Engine) .

    3. Apply commercially available Met-L-Chek D-70 Developer to the joint of the injectors (a), the fuel rails (b), and the high pressure fuel pump (c). Set the probe of the leak detector (Snap-on Combustible Gas Leak Detector) on the joint. (Figure 1 and 2)

    NOTICE:

Do not disconnect the water bypass hoses, and do not bend them excessively.

    8. Remove the intake manifold, the intake manifold base, and the fuel rail cover - Refer to: Intake Manifold Area (3.0L Engine) or Intake Manifold Area (3.5L Engine) .

    9. Check for fuel leakage at the joint of the injectors, the fuel rail, and the high pressure fuel pump.
