Gauges System Description
Self-Diagnostic Function
The gauge control module is equipped with a function to self-diagnose the internal circuits of the gauge control module.
Speedometer and Tachometer
The TCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module displays the current vehicle speed in the speedometer. The PCM provides an engine speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module displays the current engine speed in the tachometer.
Fuel Gauge and Fuel Indicator
The gauge control module displays the fuel gauge based on input value from the fuel gauge sending unit (fuel tank unit). The low fuel indicator turns on in the event that the fuel gauge becomes lower than the minimum tank fill threshold.
Multi-Information Display (MID)
The multi-information display (MID) provides the odometer/trip meter, outside air temperature, average fuel economy, available cruising range, instant fuel economy, integrated drive-mode information, shift position indicator, seat belt reminder, and the status of the keyless access system. In addition, the diagnostic function displays the communication errors and the DTCs.
Odometer and Trip Meter
The TCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module tracks mileage for the odometer and trip meters. The mileage values are displayed in the multi-information display (MID).
Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
The PCM provides an engine coolant temperature signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. When the engine coolant temperature is high, the gauge control module displays the warning in the multi-information display (MID).
Outside Air Temperature Gauge
The gauge control module uses the temperature sensor signal from the climate control unit via the B-CAN. The outside air temperature indicator's displayed temperature can be recalibrated
5°F (
3°C) to meet the client's expectations.
Average Fuel Economy Records, Average Fuel Economy/Instant Fuel Economy, Range
The gauge control module receives signals such as fuel consumption, driving distance, vehicle speed, and engine speed from the TCM and the PCM via F-CAN. It calculates average fuel economy records, average/instant fuel economy, and range.
Gauge Control Module Receiving Information
The gauge control module receives information from each control unit via the F-CAN and the B-CAN to light or flash the indicators. The VSA modulator-control unit (indicator signal), safety support switch, idle stop off switch, automatic brake hold switch, ACC combination switch, VSA OFF switch, integrated dynamics system switch, fuel gauge sending unit, dashlights brightness control switch, washer fluid level switch, CAN gateway*, and brake fluid level switch are connected directly to the gauge control module. The audio remote-HFL switch signal is received via the LIN, and the head up display related signal is transmitted via the UART and LVDS line.
*: With ETHERNET
Keyless Access System Information
The gauge control module receives information from the body control module via the B-CAN to the display status of the keyless access system.
Buzzer
The gauge control module includes a buzzer to provide the driver with audible warnings.
Illumination Control
The illumination brightness can be adjusted using the dashlights brightness control switch. When the exterior lights are off, the system is off.
Integrated Dynamics System
The integrated dynamics system (IDS) enables 4 or 6 * driving modes to be selected (SNOW, COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT, SPORT+ *, and LIFT *). If a driver operates the integrated dynamics system switch, the system adjusts the electric power steering - Refer to: EPS System Description - Components (2025) or EPS System Description - Components (2022 2023 2024) or EPS System Description (2025) or EPS System Description (2022 2023 2024) or EPS System Description - System Diagram (2022 2023 2024) or EPS System Description - System Diagram (2025) , adaptive damper system* - Refer to: Adaptive Damper System Description or Adaptive Damper System Description - System Diagram or Adaptive Damper System Description - Components , SH-AWD system, electronic air suspension system - Refer to: Electronic Air Suspension System Description - System Diagram or Electronic Air Suspension System Description - Components or Electronic Air Suspension System Description *, and PGM-FI system.
*: 3.0 L engine
Rear Seat Belt Reminder (With Rear Seat Belt Reminder)
When the gauge control module receives the second row left/right seat belt buckle switches signal and third row seat belt buckle switches signal from the SRS unit and the second row center seat belt buckle switch signal and each door switch signal from the body control module, the rear seat belt reminder turns on/blinks the seat belt warning light and displays the seat belt icon. If any rear seat belt transitions from buckled state to unbuckled state, the rear seat belt reminder turns on the seat belt warning light and displays the seat belt icon while the vehicle stops, or alarm goes off, blinks the seat belt warning light and displays the seat belt icon while the vehicle runs.
