DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0532, P0533 (1.5L Engine)
DTC P0532: A/C Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage DTC P0533: A/C Pressure Sensor Circuit High Voltage
General Description
The A/C pressure sensor measures the change in the pressure of the air conditioning refrigerant. The signal from the A/C pressure sensor is low voltage at low pressure (when the air conditioning load is low) and high voltage at high pressure (when the air conditioning load is high). The powertrain control module (PCM) compares the expected voltage to the A/C pressure sensor output voltage. When the A/C pressure sensor output voltage is lower or higher than the expected voltage for a set time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
DTC: P0532
- A/C pressure sensor PD_SNSR line short to ground
- A/C pressure sensor VCC6 line open
DTC: P0533
- A/C pressure sensor PD_SNSR line open
- A/C pressure sensor SG6 line open
Common
- A/C pressure sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
