- This test is only used to confirm if the auto high-beam system is operating correctly.
- Certain vehicle and environmental conditions will affect how the auto high-beam system operates. 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode and confirm there are no auto high-beam messages on the multi-information display (MID). If a message is present, check for DTC's and troubleshoot them first before doing this test. Cover the following areas with masking tape:
- The images shown are examples and may not match your vehicle.
- Apply two layers of masking tape to insure that the sensor and camera is blocked.
Multipurpose Camera (opening on the front windshield)
Automatic Lighting Control Unit-Sensor / Sunlight Sensor (entire sensor)
Automatic Lighting / Rain Sensor (opening on the front windshield)
3. Set the headlight switch to the low beam and AUTO positions.
4. Start the engine and confirm that the headlight low beam is on. Check the gauge control assembly.
- If the auto high-beam activation indicator is on, the system is normal and the test is complete.
- If the auto high-beam activation indicator is off, pull back the headlight switch lever back for at least 30 seconds until the auto high-beam activation indicator blinks once. If it blinks, repeat steps 1
