NOTE:- With the driver's door open, turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then wait at least 3 minutes before disconnecting the 12 volt negative battery cable.
- When disconnecting the 12 volt battery terminal, always disconnect the negative side first.
- When connecting the 12 volt battery terminal, always connect the positive side first.
- If the 12 volt battery performs abnormally, test the 12 volt battery - Refer to: 12 Volt Battery Test .

NOTE: Do not hold the 12 volt battery sensor connector (a) when disconnecting/connecting the negative terminal. (Figure 1)

- C.-WARNING:
- Use of a battery not designed for this vehicle could cause a hydrogen gas leak inside the vehicle, resulting in a fire or explosion that may cause injury or death.
- Only install a 12 volt AGM battery designed for use in this vehicle.
NOTE:- Strong impacts (i.e., dropping the 12 volt battery, collision damage) may cause electrolyte leaks, internal short circuit and heat increase resulting in fire. Avoid impacts to the 12 volt battery.
- Organic electrolyte is poisonous. If ingested, get medical attention immediately.
- 12 volt battery damage may cause flammable gas or electrolyte leaks and may result in fire. Do not damage the 12 volt battery and keep sparks, flame, and cigarettes away.
- When replacing the 12 volt battery, replace it with an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery type, and must be of the same specifications.
After Installation
- 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Reconnect
- If you are replacing the 12 volt battery, do the following.

Make sure the 12 volt battery vent tube is securely installed.
