DTC Troubleshooting: P0461(3.0L Engine): Notes
DTC P0461 : Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Range/Performance Problem
NOTICE:
Before you troubleshoot, review the How to Troubleshoot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems(2.0L Engine) or How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems(3.0L Engine) .
NOTE:
- DTC P0461 cannot be duplicated during this troubleshooting because the vehicle must be driven and use 5.5 US gal (20.9 L) of fuel without refueling to complete this diagnosis.
- DTC P0461 may be stored due to the following:

- Adding small amounts of fuel when refueling
- Fuel draining during repairs
- Constant cornering or driving on a sloping road for a certain period of time
- Before starting the inspection items, ask the customer if the vehicle has been repeatedly refilled with less than 3.5 US gal (13.3 L) at each refill. If yes, direct the customer on the proper refilling conditions in the How to Refuel section of the owner's manual.
