DTC P2599: Turbocharger Wastegate Control Actuator Stuck High

The powertrain control module (PCM) adjusts the boost pressure by controlling the turbocharger wastegate control actuator of the turbocharger. The malfunction detection of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator is done during the turbocharger wastegate control actuator fully closed learning. If the learned closed position is a specified value, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold

The learned closed position of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator during the turbocharger wastegate control actuator fully closed learning is more than 2 mm (0.08 in) for at least 10 seconds.

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Start the engine. Hold the engine speed [Engine Speed] at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on.

Test the vehicle in the condition of outside temperature of 32 deg.F (0 deg.C) or more.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
