DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0615 (3.0L Engine)
DTC P0615: Starter Cut Relay Diagnosis Circuit Malfunction
General Description
The START_DIAG line monitors the voltage of the line between starter cut relay 1 and starter cut relay 2. The voltage level when starter cut relay 1 and starter cut relay 2 are on/on or off/off are measured to detect stuck on and stuck off of each relay and open circuit of the START_DIAG line. If the START_DIAG voltage is in a specified range while the starter is on, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The START_DIAG terminal voltage [Starter Cut Relay] is between 2 V and 3.5 V for at least 0.3 second while the starter is on.
Possible Cause
- Starter cut relay START_DIAG line open
- PCM internal circuit failure

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
