Stall Speed Test: Test
How to use this Service Information .
NOTE:
- Do not test stall speed for more than 10 seconds at a time.
- Stall speed tests should be used for diagnostic purposes only.
- The stall speed should be the same in all positions/modes.
- Stall Speed - Test
■ Preconditions
- Engine Warmed Up (the radiator fan comes on twice)
- Parking Brake Applied
- All Four Wheels Blocked
- A/C Switch OFF
- ATF Level Normal Condition
- HDS Connected
■ Procedure/Specifications
1. Start the engine.
2. Shift the transmission to D position/mode while pressing the brake pedal firmly, then press the accelerator pedal, and note the engine speed.
NOTE: Do not change the shift position/mode or remove your foot off the brake pedal, while raising the engine speed.3. Allow 2 minutes for cooling, then repeat the test in R position/mode.
Normal Conditions
Specifications 1, 800 - 2, 200 rpm ■ Result
- If the measurement is not within specifications, refer to the problems and primary probable causes listed in the table.
Abnormal Details

- B1 cut valve defective
- B1 brake defective
Stall speed rpm high in R position/mode - Clutch pressure control solenoid valve B defective
- Clutch pressure control solenoid valve F defective

- B2 brake defective
Stall speed rpm low in D and R positions/modes Torque converter lock-up clutch piston defective
