DTC (PGM-FI)
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.
Signal Malfunction Threshold Current conditions Values Unit Values Unit ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SENSOR Less than 0.18 V Do the current condition(s) match the threshold?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM.
- Determine possible failure area (OP SENSOR line, others)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-4. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.
Signal Malfunction Threshold Current conditions Values Unit Values Unit ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SENSOR Less than 0.18 V Do the current condition(s) match the threshold?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Determine possible failure area (rocker arm oil pressure sensor, VCC line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected Test circuit SG2, VCC2 Test point 1 Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 1 (GRY) Test point 2 Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 3 (GRN) Is there about 5.0 V?
YES
Replace the rocker arm oil pressure sensor , then do the repair verification.
NO
Go to step 5.
- Shorted wire check (OP SENSOR line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector B (51P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected PCM connector B (51P): disconnected Test circuit OP SENSOR Test point 1 Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 2 (PUR) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the OP SENSOR wire between the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM (B47), then do the repair verification.
NO
The OP SENSOR wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM , then do the repair verification.
- Open wire check (VCC2 line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
PCM connector B (51P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector: disconnected PCM connector B (51P): disconnected Test circuit VCC2 Test point 1 Rocker arm oil pressure sensor 3P connector No. 3 (GRN) Test point 2 PCM connector B (51P) No. 43 (GRN) Is there continuity?
YES
The VCC2 wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM , then do the repair verification.
NO
Repair an open in the VCC2 wire between the rocker arm oil pressure sensor and the PCM (B43), then do the repair verification.
- Repair verification (OBD STATUS check)
-1. Reconnect all connectors.
-2. Exit the SCS mode with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-4. Reset the PCM with the HDS .
Reset PCM
-5. Do the PCM idle learn procedure .
-6. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0522 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
DTC Description OBD STATUS P0522 Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage DTC (PGM-FI)
Does the HDS indicate PASSED, FAILED, or NOT COMPLETED?
PASSED
Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM . If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
FAILED
Go to step 1 and recheck. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM , then check the OBD STATUS again.
NOT COMPLETED
Keep idling until a result comes on.
