DTC P287C: Transmission Adaptive Values Not Learned (DCT)
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) absorbs variability of each vehicle, and to control smoothly on switching forward/reverse, starting, and automatic shifting, the valve body characteristics and shift position are learned and corrected at the factory. At the factory, shift position learning which shift fork position sensor is used, and valve body learning are done, and records to the PCM that the learning procedure were successfully done. Learnings and corrections must be done if transmission or PCM is replaced. When the learning procedure is not finished when the PCM is activated, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Transmission control system not learned
- PCM internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- 1.
Start the engine.
- 2.
Shift to P position/mode, and wait for at least 3 minutes.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
