DTC P2843: Shift Fork D Position Circuit (Open) (DCT)
General Description
The shift fork D position sensor detects the stroke amount of 6-8 shift fork according to the output voltage. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends a 5 V reference signal to the sensor through a pull-up resistor. The shift fork D position sensor outputs a voltage of about 1 V when the 8th gear is engaged, about 4 V when the 6th gear is engaged, and about 2.5 V when it is in neutral position. If the shift fork D position sensor signal voltage is a specified voltage for a set time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Shift fork D position sensor STRKD line open (includes connector loose connection or disconnection)
- Shift fork D position sensor SG line open (includes connector loose connection or disconnection)
- Shift fork D position sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Start the engine in P position/mode, and wait for at least 1 second.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
