Keyless Access System Description - Overview
Keyless Access System
The keyless access system enables you to lock/unlock the doors and the trunk remotely. The keyless access system uses the LF-RF communication system. It sends the LF signal via the LF antenna, and the keyless access/TPMS control unit receives the RF signal from the remote.
The remote engine start system models consist of the additional the roof antenna and the 2-way transceiver.
Remote Engine Start
Some models come equipped with the remote engine start. The remote engine start consists of the 2-way transceiver, the roof antenna, and the bi-directional remote.
The bi-directional remote transmitter uses long range and short range communication with the vehicle. Long range communication is used only for locking the doors and the remote engine start function.
The remote engine start is linked to the climate control unit, heated/ventilated seat controls, rear window and mirror defoggers, and heated steering wheel to activate those features when the engine is started remotely.
A rechargeable battery in the remote transmitter provides enough power to allow 2-way communication from the extended range away from the vehicle. The rechargeable battery is charged by the standard coin cell battery also inside the remote transmitter, so no external charger is needed.
The engine will run for up to 10 minutes before automatically shutting off, however, the run time can be extended for up to an additional 10 minutes by pressing the lock button then engine hold button again. 20 minutes is the maximum time allowed for remote engine start run time.
