DTC U128D (Multi View Camera Unit) (2016 2017)

DTC U128D  : Lost Communication With Gauge Control Module on BCAN

NOTE:  If DTC U128D is stored, then recheck for gauge control module circuit (+B BACK UP, IG1 METER, and GND lines).

DTC (MVCS)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for at least 6 seconds.

   -5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   U128D Lost Communication With Gauge Control Module on BCAN

   Is DTC U128D indicated?

   YES 

   Failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting .

2. Open wire check (B-CAN_L, B-CAN_H lines)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

   Multi view camera unit connector A (20P)

   Gauge control module connector A (32P)

   -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Multi view camera unit connector A (20P): disconnected
   	Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Multi view camera unit connector A (20P) No. 20
   Test point 2	Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 26

   Test point 1	Multi view camera unit connector A (20P) No. 19
   Test point 2	Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 25

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   The B-CAN_L and B-CAN_H wires are OK. Substitute a known-good gauge control module , then retest. If DTC U128D is not indicated after substitution, replace the gauge control module .

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the multi view camera unit.
