Gauge Control Module Input Test (2016)

NOTE: 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect the gauge control module connector A (32P)

3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
A13 RED Combination light switch ON Connect to ground with a jumper wire:
The dashlights should come on full bright.
  • Faulty LEDs
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A14 YEL Combination light switch ON Connect to ground with a jumper wire:
The dashlights should come on full bright.
  • Faulty bulbs
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A18 BLU Vehicle ON mode,
turn signal switch to LEFT
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage when the lights are flashing.
  • Faulty MICU
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A17 WHT Vehicle ON mode,
turn signal switch to RIGHT
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage when the lights are flashing.
  • Faulty MICU
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A12 YEL Parking brake pedal pressed Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Parking brake pedal released Check for continuity to ground: There should be no continuity.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

5. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
A1 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A2* 1 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D11 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A2* 2 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D24 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. H7 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty DC-DC converter
  • Faulty DC-DC converter IG1 relay1
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A16 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
A32 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G507)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
A11 ORN Vehicle ON mode,
brake fluid is at full level in the reservoir
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty brake fluid level switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
brake fluid is at lower level in the reservoir
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty brake fluid level switch
  • Poor ground (G402) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A19 GRY Vehicle ON mode,
dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (+) button pushed
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • Poor ground (G507) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (+) button released
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A20 LT BLU Vehicle ON mode,
dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (-) button pushed
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • Poor ground (G507) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
dashlights brightness control ILLUMI (-) button released
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty dashlights brightness control switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A22 ORN Vehicle ON mode,
idle stop OFF switch pushed
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty idle stop OFF switch
  • Poor ground (G507) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
idle stop OFF switch released
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty idle stop OFF switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A23 BLU Vehicle ON mode,
integrated dynamics system switch pushed
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty integrated dynamics system switch
  • Poor ground (G507) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
integrated dynamics system switch released
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty integrated dynamics system switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A10 GRY Vehicle ON mode,
washer fluid is half or more in the washer reservoir
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty washer fluid level switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Vehicle ON mode,
washer fluid is empty in the washer reservoir
Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty washer fluid level switch
  • Poor ground (G204) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

*2: With auto idle stop system
