Blind Spot Information System/Cross Traffic Monitor System Description - Control/Function (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020)
Blind Spot Information (BSI) system control regulation
The BSI system alerts the driver by the BSI alert indicator when a vehicle enters the blind spot alert zone. See Warn Conditions for more information.
Warning Conditions
Under normal conditions, the BSI system generally does not indicate stationary objects like highway infrastructure, guardrails, posts, walls, foliage, parked cars, etc. The system also doesn't notify when vehicles are traveling in the opposite direction.

Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) system control regulation
When driving in reverse, the blind spot information radar unit monitors any vehicles approaching from behind your vehicle. When detecting any vehicle approaching from the behind, the unit sends the information to the multi view camera unit via B-CAN line. When receiving the information, the multi view camera unit gives the warning to the driver by displaying "<<" (a warning arrow) on the audio and navigation display and setting an alarm buzzer off. A warning message indicates left, right or both. The multi view camera unit gives a warning depending on a position, speed of the target vehicle in the detection range and the time remaining to the collision.
