DTC P2841: Shift Fork D Position Circuit (Range) (DCT)

General Description

GHH159199Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The shift fork D position sensor detects the stroke amount of 6-8 shift fork according to the output voltage. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends a 5 V reference signal to the sensor through a pull-up resistor. The shift fork D position sensor outputs a voltage of about 1 V when the 8th gear is engaged, about 4 V when the 6th gear is engaged, and about 2.5 V when it is in neutral position. If the shift fork D position sensor output voltage is in a specified range for a specified duration, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Possible Cause

NOTE:  The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

None.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
